CRUISING & KNITTING

We scheduled the 5th and last episode of our series “YARN INSIGHTS” for today. Instead we are interrupting our program for some special news: Bjorn was desperately in need of some days off and what would be better than a cruise among knitters to relax a little?

Together with SKEINO co-founder Rex he is on his way to Barcelona on board the ship “Norwegian Jade”. We thought it would be nice for our community to be a part of the trip and so Rex shot this video for our next episode. On the ship there is actually a knitting group and today you will meet all of these wonderful ladies from 4 different continents (we are counting Guatemala as South America even if that’s not 100% correct..).

This trip is far from over and we will have at least one more video for you to watch so stay tuned and subscribe to the SKEINO Youtube channel!

We hope you like this little “Hello, my name is” video. There will be more content that is purely based on knitting soon. Bjorn is also working on a new project, the Cruise Shawl, which will be presented to you soon. If you don’t want to miss the launch date for the Cruise Shawl please subscribe to our weekly newsletter here.

YARN INSIGHTS – PART 4: SILK YARNS

Yarn insights is a video series of 5 episodes where I will explain the different kinds of  yarns out there. We will publish a new episode every week so make sure to stay tuned to not miss anything.

This is the fourth episode of our little yarn overview. Today I will talk about some authentic luxury fibers: silk yarns. The yarn industry offers a surprising variety of silk yarns and I have quite a number of them in my stash. Right now at SKEINO we only offer our Splendid Yarn which is a silk blend. However I am already looking at some new silk yarns that will eventually find their way into our store.

I hope you enjoyed the silk yarns I presented in the video. Please feel free to comment or ask here in the blog or directly on Youtube. If you haven’t done so already please do consider subscribing to our channel and never miss a video.

YARN INSIGHTS – PART 3: FANCY AND TEXTURED YARNS

Yarn insights is a video series of 5 episodes where I will explain the kinds of different yarns out there. We will publish a new episode each week so make sure to stay tuned to not miss anything.

In this third episode I will talk about fancy and textured yarns. They are very playful fibers that can be used to create a special texture for your project. For example, we are using Boucle yarn on several of our knitting kits because it just makes the piece look so much more interesting. Follow me as I walk you through the different kinds of fancy and textured yarns in this knitting video.

I hope you liked this episode of Yarn Insights and maybe you have even learned something new. As usual I am here to reply to your questions and recommendations in the comment section or right on Youtube. Please do also subscribe to SKEINO’s Youtube channel for more interesting videos all about knitting.

YARN INSIGHTS – PART 2: I-CORD AND RIBBON YARNS

Yarn insights is a video series of 5 episodes where I will explain the kinds of different yarns out there. We will publish a new episode each week so stay tuned.

In this second episode I will talk about knitted (a.k.a I-cord) and ribbon yarns. Both of them are more complex then the classical yarns but they are a nice thing to play around with. In the video I will show you a few of these types of yarns we have here at SKEINO. In fact our Venice, which is used in many of our knitting kits, is an I-cord yarn.

I hope you enjoyed this video and you could take away something from it. Textile design is my passion and since it is an essential part of knitting I thought you would enjoy this video series. If you like our videos feel free to subscribe on Youtube. Please let me know your questions and suggestions down in the comment section or right on Youtube.
